Tenant Services

USVI law provides for several categories of RTPark tenants, including:
  • Knowledge-Based Businesses,
  • RTPark’s Protected Cell subsidiary, and
  • EDC beneficiaries (pursuant to VIC Title 29 Chapter 12), Support Businesses (as defined in 17 VIC Chapter 34 482(l)), and Farmers, Research and Consumers Assistance Program beneficiaries (pursuant to VIC Title 7 Chapter 13).

To become a tenant, qualifying businesses must lease space and/or obtain services in the Research and Technology Park or a Research and Technology Park Project. This includes properties we own or lease, other property deemed necessary to RTPark’s use, and our collocation data center facilities. Tenants are not limited to securing office space in RTPark facilities, but the use of RTPark facilities is encouraged to support our collaborative objectives with UVI and other partners.

64 West: Our Tier-1 Collocation Data Center Facility

64 West is the only Tier-1 point of presence and data center inside a fiber landing facility in the USVI, and is a key initiative of RTPark. E-Commerce companies seeking competitive advantage will find it here; with the assistance of key strategic partners including Adveniat and Tropical Tower, Inc., we provide mission critical telecommunications, managed services including hosting, and transaction processing services to support our tenants’ business objectives.

Collaborative Innovation Center

RTPark is now developing a new headquarters facility on the UVI St. Croix campus, incorporating sustainable design techniques and utilizing technology park concepts used successfully in over 200 North American communities, to help businesses leverage academic and workforce development resources. Our Collaborative Innovation Center, currently scheduled for completion in 2009, will allow IT-driven businesses to focus on what they do best in an environment leveraging RTPark’s operational facilities and telecommunications infrastructure.

Three clusters are planned for tenants, each providing a professional environment with access to world-class infrastructure, business support services, and UVI resources:
  • Research and Development: for public or private sector entities engaged in research or commercial product development, the Collaborative Innovation Center will provide an edge in rapid prototyping, knowledge transfer, public/private sector collaboration, and intellectual property licensing.
  • Business Incubation: for startup and emerging companies engaged in new product development or the exploration of new product ideas, the Collaborative Innovation Center will provide an edge in overcoming limitations in capital and administrative resources.
  • Business Center: for companies that use Internet technology to deliver a service to their customers, the Collaborative Innovation Center delivers an environment conducive to people-intensive functions such as customer support, data entry and record management, digital content authoring and publishing, and software development.

RTPark’s affiliation with UVI provides new opportunities for joint research between UVI, RTPark and tenants. In addition, UVI faculty and students are available to be engaged for consultation and employment, respectively; students are seeking internship opportunities as well as employment following graduation. By engaging UVI, tenants strengthen the academic and financial capabilities of UVI, which helps the institution develop a highly skilled and globally-competitive workforce.
